Our mission is to help people with slight hearing loss and tinnitus for them to
feel better in their everyday life. We believe that a person with slight hearing loss and tinnitus
has the right to have a normal and non stigmatized life with elegance.
That is why we are producing a smart elegant wearable that helps firstly
women with mild hearing loss to hear better and offers support with tinnitus. Also reduces the
risk of getting headache.
According to WHO by 2050 every 10th person is suffering some kind of hearing loss. The number of tinnitus and hearing loss is globally growing constantly (in US market also around 15%). So hearing problems must be taken seriously and dealt with them rather earlier than later.
By some opinions regular everyday usage of headsets are increasing the problem because young people do not adjust volume and use these products improperly. Luckily there are already some audiologists who help and explain the dark sides of using headphones regularly. Also there are already some innovative headsets on the market concentrating on the hearing enhancement.
Tinnitus is the perception of sound when no actual external noise is present. It’s often described as a ringing in the ears, but people with tinnitus can experience other sounds like buzzing, hissing, whistling, swooshing, or clicking. Tinnitus is commonly linked to underlying conditions such as age-related hearing loss, ear injuries, or circulatory system issues. Sometimes, an exact cause isn’t found. Treatment aims to address the underlying cause or reduce the noise. Options include sound therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and managing related anxiety or depression.
Using hearing aids on and off may cause severe headaches, that has been noticed by the CEO of the company and the critical client of this product. Wearing hearing aids for example 2-3 days in the row and then spending a day without them causes a terrible headache.
Slight hearing loss owner needs hearing aids only in certain conditions.
Regular hearing aids are constantly amplifying sounds, but a person with mild hearing loss does not need mostly sound amplification as it will lead to exhaustion of the nervous system. Our device recognizes important sounds and amplifies them only when amplification is really needed.
With the emerging software and hardware there has to be a better way.
TEAM
We are the team of passionate people who care about the health issues.
Gerli as a CEO and author of the idea is a critical client of the product. She got diagnosed slight hearing loss after she had her child and got pulsatile tinnitus as well. So after she was really annoyed, she started to search for the opportunities in changing her life for better. She hopes she can help other people with similar problem as well. Currently she has to wear in some circumstances hearing aids.
Her background is legal, over 22 years in public procurement, also done previously PR and project management and worked in customer service area under Swedish boss “where the customer is always a king”:)
Fun fact: She met over decade ago in salsa dancing two cool guys, Madis and
Marcus.
Marcus is a CTO of the company with over 25 years of experience in software development and embedded systems.
Madis has PhD in robotics and has worked as a critical technical expert in many companies and projects, providing innovative solutions for many poorly solved problems. He has experience in underwater sound engineering and studied crickets’ hearing systems to change their behaviour.
Mihkel is currently youngest in our team. He is a designer who is really great and eager wizard in making elegant designs.
We have consultations with one experienced audiologist who knows also a lot about tinnitus and we are also trying to partner with relevant hardware and software partners.
